Adding Your First Client and Deal

A walkthrough of creating a client record and attaching your first deal.

Your First Client and Deal

Clients are at the center of everything in Deskmantle. Every email, call, deal, invoice, and task connects back to a client record. This guide walks you through adding your first client and creating a deal.

Creating a Client

  1. Click CRM in the left sidebar, then click the + New Client button in the top-right corner.
  2. Enter the client name (person or company) and email address. These are the only required fields.
  3. Optionally fill in phone number, company name, website, industry, and address.
  4. Set the client status: Lead, Active, Inactive, or Churned.
  5. Add any tags to help with segmentation (e.g., "Enterprise", "Referral", "Warm lead").
  6. Click Save. Your new client record is now live.
Pro tip: You can also create clients by simply sending them an email from the Deskmantle inbox — a client record is auto-created if one does not already exist.

Exploring the Client Profile

After creating a client, click into their profile. You will see several tabs:

  • Overview — summary card with contact info, health score, lifetime value, and recent activity.
  • Activity — a chronological timeline of every interaction: emails sent and received, calls, meetings, notes, and AI summaries.
  • Deals — all deals associated with this client.
  • Files — documents, proposals, and contracts shared with this client.
  • Notes — internal notes from your team. Desk (your AI) can auto-summarize call transcripts here.

Creating Your First Deal

  1. From the client profile, click the Deals tab and then + New Deal.
  2. Enter a deal name — something descriptive like "Website Redesign" or "Annual Subscription".
  3. Set the value (monetary amount) and currency.
  4. Choose a pipeline (e.g., "Sales Pipeline") and stage (e.g., "Discovery").
  5. Set an expected close date.
  6. Optionally assign a team member as the deal owner.
  7. Click Create Deal.

Moving Deals Through the Pipeline

Navigate to Deals in the left sidebar to see the Kanban board. Drag and drop your deal between stages as it progresses. Deskmantle logs every stage transition and calculates velocity metrics automatically.

Pro tip: Ask Desk "What should I do next for [deal name]?" and the AI will analyze the deal history and suggest concrete next steps.
