Custom Objects
Standard CRM records — clients, deals, tasks — work for most businesses. But if your industry has unique data structures (properties, vehicles, policies, projects, patients), custom objects let you model them natively inside Deskmantle.
What Are Custom Objects?
A custom object is a new data type you define with its own fields, relationships, and views. For example:
- A real estate agency might create a "Properties" object with fields for address, listing price, square footage, and MLS number.
- An insurance broker might create a "Policies" object with fields for policy number, carrier, premium, and renewal date.
- A marketing agency might create a "Campaigns" object with fields for budget, channel, start date, and KPIs.
Creating a Custom Object
- Go to Settings > CRM > Custom Objects.
- Click + New Object.
- Enter a name (singular and plural, e.g., "Property" / "Properties").
- Add fields. Supported types: text, number, currency, date, dropdown, multi-select, checkbox, URL, email, phone, rich text, and file attachment.
- Define relationships: link custom objects to clients, deals, or other custom objects. For example, a Property can belong to a Client and be linked to a Deal.
- Click Create. The new object appears as a tab in the CRM sidebar.
Using Custom Objects
Once created, custom objects behave like first-class CRM records:
- They appear in the sidebar navigation.
- You can filter, sort, and search them.
- They show up in client profiles under a dedicated tab.
- Desk (AI) understands them — you can ask "show me all properties listed above $500K."
- They can trigger automations (e.g., "when a Policy renewal date is 30 days away, create a follow-up task").
Pro tip: Use the template gallery when creating custom objects — Deskmantle offers pre-built templates for common industries like real estate, insurance, consulting, and SaaS.
